Morbius New Trailer Includes Black Cat And Rhino References

Morbius may be the least hyped superhero movie in the history of superhero films, but that’s not stopping it from astounding fans in the newest trailer.

Currently, in post-production at Sony Pictures, Morbius centers around Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto). Full Synopsis:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Sony Pictures’ official synopsis for Morbius (2022)

Sony is certainly ambitious with its Marvel film slate. 3 films in 4 months are something even Marvel Studios hasn’t ever done. Venom: Let There Be Carnage released on October 1, Spider-Man: No Way Home will swing into theaters on December 17, and Morbius will appear on the big screen on January 28, 2022. With the newest trailer for the film, though, eagle-eyed fans spotted something…unusual.

Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) in Morbius (2022).

In the newest trailer for the film, Black Cat and Rhino were referenced in the trailer. They appeared in a tiny headline at the top of a Daily Bugle newspaper. See below:

Where the arrows point, there are 2 headlines. One reads “Rhino on the loose, zoo hoax fools us all”, and “Black Cat: Friend or Foe?”. Both characters appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and were not generally considered to be well-developed villains.

This might lead fans to assume that Morbius will be set inside the “TASM Universe”, but other evidence from the trailer leads us to believe that this may not be the case. For one, in a shot from the teaser trailer, Morbius was shown walking past a graffiti image of Tobey Maguire’s edition of Spider-Man. If that’s not enough, Morbius says “I am Venom” in a shot, a clear nod to the Venom-verse. One more piece of evidence. MCU’s Vulture (Michael Keaton) appears in the film, with actual dialogue. From all of that, 4 universes are either referenced or shown. Who knows what universe they’re actually in?

Leaks Regarding Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 Surface

The leak comes from Reddit, where a person who claims to be an Insomniac Games employee answered some questions from eager fans. The game will reportedly allow players to play missions as either Peter Parker or Miles Morales, each having unique skills and abilities. Whoever the player doesn’t choose will be controlled by AI and provide support during the mission. Peter’s web trick system has improved to play more like Miles’ in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.  Also, the wall-crawling system has been revamped, allowing for smoother transitions between actions without hindering the player’s pace.

As for Venom and the symbiote, the employee gave some details on how they’ll factor in. Peter will reportedly gain the iconic black suit in the first part of the game, using the symbiote’s tendrils as four extra arms in combat. Rather than being an alien, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is pulling from the Ultimate Spider-Man comic books where Oscorp created Venom. Finally, Peter separates himself from the suit, which takes a new host and becomes Venom.

Kraven The Hunter

The post says that Kraven the Hunter will serve as the game’s main villain as Peter and Miles fight against his army of mercenaries. The poster does say that while they’re unsure of secondary villains, both Lizard and Mysterio appear in the game. As for heroes, no other Marvel heroes will be in the story, but the amount of Easter eggs alluding to a larger universe has significantly increased.

As with all leaks, it’s essential to take them with a grain of salt. Even though the employees’ comments sound legitimate, they have yet to verify that they work at Insomniac Games. Nevertheless, we know that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch as a PlayStation exclusive in 2023.

‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Review: An Intriguing Sequel With Lots Of Action And Humor

After struggling to find its release date, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is finally set to arrive in theaters on October 1st. I was lucky enough to see a screening in New York on Monday, greeted by Director Andy Serkis in the theatre. Serkis was open to answering fan questions, and was even able to mutter a laugh and answer that his MCU character Ulysses Klaue could in fact take Venom in a fight. After a brief video message from Tom Hardy, it was time for the movie to begin with hundreds of fans in attendance ready to view the new Sony feature.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage wastes absolutely no time diving into the gruesome backstory of Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady. The beginning of the film takes us into the mind of young Cletus, immediately describing visuals of a disturbed man’s twisted past. We see an action-packed screen minutes into the movie, and this doesn’t change at any point throughout. The movie is a fast paced, gore-filled thriller.

Both Woody Harrelson and star of the film Tom Hardy provide electric performances, perfectly encapsulating the lived chaos of bonding with an alien symbiote. Hardy’s dedication and love for the character shines through, while Harrelson gives the unhinged performance we all expected and new he was capable of. The criticisms of this movie do not come with the acting, but with the story.

While the film was entertaining, the storyline lacked depth. It seemed to hit many classic sequel tropes, while giving us very little time to breath between action sequences. The film had high stakes and interesting characters, but the speed at which they progressed through these characters’ stories made it very hard to build any time of connection with any new characters. While watching the movie, it almost seemed as though they were trying to progress through at a fast pace because they had bigger and better things coming.

The fast pace of the movie was welcomed, as it seemed to bring us to the epic post credit scene even sooner. Avoid spoilers like the plague before seeing this one, because it is absolutely worth the price of admission.

It’s not the best film of the year, but it’s a good sequel to the Venom franchise, and a fine movie to watch if you have 90 minutes to kill. Sony’s Spider-Man Plans Include The Sinister Six

After roughly seven years, Sony might be trying to get the Sinister Six on the big screen again! The Sinister Six have yet to appear in a Spider-Man franchise. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy never showed interest in the Sinister Six. The Amazing-Spider-Man series got canceled before it could show the Sinister team in action. However, the third time’s the charm, right?

Now, Deadline’s Hero Nation Podcast (via TheDirect) has reported what Sony has planned for The Sinister Six. It seems as though they are determined to build up the team once again. This time with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro said this:

“Because Sony’s always kept, outside of the current Spider-Man stuff they’re doing with the Disney MCU, Sony’s always kept their Marvel stuff separate, and with this Venom, they’re actually going to connect to the Spider-Man universe [that’s being set-up with the] Disney MCU. So that’s very interesting. I know one of their long-term goals is to make Sinister Six. That’s kinda the project we’re all waiting for; their version of the bad guys from the Spider-Man [universe].”

Sinister Six Members

Therefore, we all want to know which villains Sony will have in this version of the Sinister Six. The original Sinister Six team from the comics included: Electro, Sandman, Mysterio, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, and Doctor Octopus. Sony will likely change a few members of the Sinister Six to suit the story better. For instance, Sony already has Venom, Morbius, Kraven, and possibly Chameleon in their films. MCU already set up Vulture, Scorpion, and Shocker. It is unclear if Sony wants to use multiversal villains like in Spider-Man No Way Home or newly established villains.

Regardless, fans should be excited that Sony is incorporating the Sinister Six and even a potential Sinister Six standalone movie!

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Coming To PS5 In 2023

Spider-Man news keeps coming! Marvel’s Spider-Man is getting a sequel. Insomniac Games released a brief teaser on Thursday at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase 2021.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2023. Peter Parker and Miles Morales will team up to defeat some deadly villains! One being Venom!

Marvel’s Spider-Man creative director Bryan Intihar endgame director Ryan Smith will return for the sequel. Also, Tony Todd will voice Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter will reprise their roles as Peter and Miles.

Furthermore, the last scene of the teaser showed Venom! Venom is indeed one of the villains in the game. Miles and Peter will have to team up to defeat one of the greatest villains ever! Kraven The Hunter is also rumored to appear in the game, but no confirmation yet.

Analysis: ‘Top Gun’, ‘M:I-7’ Among Films Delayed In Latest Musical Chairs Of Release Dates

Once again, it’s happened. Hollywood is back to playing musical chairs with their films and release dates. Before, it was Black Widow, Cruella, and Wonder Woman 1984. Then it was F9, The Suicide Squad, and Eternals. Now, it’s Mission: Impossible 7, Top Gun: Maverick, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

With the ever-evolving Delta variant, it’s impossible to predict what will happen in the coming weeks, and it seems that Paramount delaying their 2021 slate is a precaution, just in case things get worse. Below is the list of delayed films:

Top Gun: Maverick – November 19, 2021 to May 27, 2022 (Paramount)

Mission: Impossible 7 – May 27, 2022 to September 30, 2022 (Paramount/Skydance)

Jackass: Forever – October 22, 2021 to February 4, 2022 (Paramount)

Ghostbusters: Afterlife – November 11, 2021 to November 19, 2021 (Sony)

This is likely only the tip of the iceberg if Shang-Chi underperforms at the box office. We’ll have to keep an eye on the worldwide box office in the coming weeks, as we’re likely to see more films being pushed, even if Shang-Chi overperforms. The major studios that are still TBD are Universal, Warner, Disney, Lionsgate, and Sony.

The Trailer For Spider-Man: No Way Home Is FINALLY Here!

The trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home is FINALLY here! We’ve waited for months on end, and it’s finally here!

The trailer showcased many things, including many shots of Doctor Strange, Peter Parker, and a little cameo at the end from someone you weren’t expecting…..a Raimi universe character.

Our first shots showed us Peter and MJ on a roof of a building, talking. It then switches to JJ Jameson narrating the reveal of Peter Parker as Spider-Man. MJ and Peter are shown to be on the top of a building, surrounded by helicopters. Peter, Ned, and Aunt May are shown to be cuffed and held in interrogation rooms. Cut to the Marvel Studios logo.

Peter approaches the Sanctum Sanctorum. He asks Doctor Strange to cast a spell to erase the memories of everyone who knows that he’s Spider-Man. The spell goes wrong. Doctor Strange narrates that the Multiverse is a concept that isn’t known much about. We see a lot of action scenes. Finally, we see Doc Ock’s glowing red arms appear (the arms are in control of him), and Doc Ock (from SM2) appears. “Hello, Peter.”

Peter is also shown fleeing from Doctor Strange in multiple shots, and Green Goblin, Lizard, Sandman, Doc Ock, and Electro are all shown or teased at various points! Watch the full trailer below:

‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Delayed One Month To October 15

It’s official. ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ has been delayed by 3 weeks, to October 15.

Earlier today, Variety reported that the sequel to 2018’s ‘Venom’ would be delayed, over concerns about the growing Delta variant. This was mainly spurred by the box office failure of DC’s ‘The Suicide Squad’, which made $26M on opening weekend, well below the projections of a $30M opening.

It’ll be interesting to see how the box office moves over the coming weeks, mainly ‘Free Guy’. If that film flops at the box office, expect more studios to start shifting their release calendars again.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage now releases on October 15, 2021.
