Robert Pattinson Explains Batman’s No-Kill Rule In The Upcoming Film

The Batman is set to be an incredibly explosive film.

Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Andy Serkis, and Jeffery Wright all star in the superhero/horror epic, which is set to be released on March 4. Matt Reeves directs the newest reboot of the Batman franchise, the script has been penned by longtime writer Peter Craig, with assistance from Reeves. John Turturro and Peter Sarsgaard also star in the Battinson origin story, and fans are more pumped than ever. Wow. What a cast, what a crew, what a film.

The film will not take place in the DCEU, at least not yet, as the movie will feature a different Batman (Robert Pattinson) than the DCEU’s version (Ben Affleck). However, with this whole Flashpoint thing taking place in The Flash, we could see the DCEU status of The Batman change very quickly. Exit Ben Affleck, enter Robert Pattinson. Exit JK Simmons, enter Jeffrey Wright. What a sight that would be to see. All sections of the DCEU that relate to Batman could be essentially erased, and replaced with the “Battinson” universe.

ROBERT PATTINSON EXPLAINS WHY THE NO-KILL RULE EXISTS FOR BATMAN

In a recent interview with Premiere MagazineThe Batman star Robert Pattinson talked about Batman’s ever-present no-killing rule in the DC comics and previous films, and how Director Matt Reeves adapted the rule to fit the movie’s narrative this time around. Here’s the full quote:

There is this rule with Batman: he must not kill. It can be interpreted in two ways. Either he only wants to inflict the appropriate punishment, or he wants to kill and his self-control prevents him from doing so.

I imagined it that way from the rehearsal of the first fight, I thought it was funnier: something in him just wanted to slit the guy’s throat! I told myself that if he spends his nights chasing criminals, it is impossible that he does not take pleasure in it. I imagined it that way from the rehearsal of the first fight, I thought it was funnier: something in him just wanted to slit the guy’s throat! I told myself that if he spends his nights chasing criminals, it is impossible that he does not take pleasure in it. He suffers and it is a desire that overwhelms him. And by dint of knocking, his mind clears, he calms down, he reaches a state close to plenitude. I’m sure in this first fight, he manages to convince himself that every guy in front of him is the one who killed his mother. And so that allows him to vent all his rage.

The interesting thing is that this Batman practically lives in the gutter. He’s nowhere at home except on the street when he’s wearing the suit. He lives a criminal life, but without committing crimes! I felt like I could get something out of that. Anyway, I could only play a superhero if he was really dirty!

Robert Pattinson on Batman’s no kill rule. (translated from French by The Direct)

Well, it’s interesting that Robert Pattinson confirms that Martha Wayne will be killed in the film. The main reason he’s attacking the mob is because they presumably killed his mother. Some of you may be dismayed at this point, assuming that The Batman will not be dark because Batman won’t kill. Yeah, not really. Based on Pattinson’s comments, Bruce Wayne’s basically going to come as close to killing as possible, but will stay just behind the line. Fans hope that it’ll be gory, bloody kills, but for the most part, it likely won’t be. Don’t fear, however, The Batman will surely make up for it in other ways. Matt Reeves has got this.

The Batman releases in theaters on March 4, 2022. The latest Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, is now streaming on HBO Max. What did you think of this news? Are you happy that Batman won’t kill in the movie?

Zoe Saldana Shares A New Photo From Set Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Zoe Saldana has just given MCU fans something new to look forward to.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a pretty popular franchise within Hollywood. The first film was extremely well received, so was the second (though not as much). Those successes led to director James Gunn getting more high-profile directing credits, including recent DC projects The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. The entire cast of Guardians have benefited thoroughly as well, with more and more of them getting better acting roles. These successes have changed the way that Hollywood thinks about superhero space operas, and hopefully for the better.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is pretty stacked, not gonna lie. You have all the original Guardians returning, plus Will Poulter as the one and only Adam Warlock. Chukwudi Iwuji (who Gunn hired off working with him on Peacemaker) is the High Evolutionary. Karen Gillan and Sean Gunn are both also back, and Sylvester Stallone returns as Stakar Ogord. The film is set to be released on May 5, 2023. Production commenced in November 2021 at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, and it looks like production is proceeding at a stable rate. Now, we have new photos from the set, courtesy of Zoe Saldana.

ZOE SALDANA SHARES A NEW BTS PHOTO FROM THE SET OF GUARDIANS 3

In new Instagram posts from Zoe Saldana, the actress is shown wearing Gamora makeup while staring at the camera. One of the photos includes Saldana in VFX makeup. You can see the 3 posts below:

Zoe Saldana looks pumped and ready for filming Guardians Vol. 3, which is such good news to hear. Fans are excited to see how Gamora plays into the threequel, after her death in Avengers: Infinity War. In Avengers: Endgame, a variant of her appeared to help the Avengers fight Thanos. This is the variant (presumably) that will appear in Vol. 3, and it’s a version of Gamora that will have no memory of any of the Guardians. This is the Gamora that has to re-form those relationships, and it’ll be exciting to see her go down that path.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will release in theaters on May 5, 2023. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will release on Disney+ in December 2022. I Am Groot will release on Disney+ in 2022. What did you think of this news? Are you excited for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Holiday Special?

Mission: Impossible Films Delayed Among Mass Paramount Shuffling Of Slate

The Mission: Impossible films may be just a little further out of reach than expected.

Tom Cruise never seems to stop, and that’s a good thing. A VERY good thing. He’s done Mission: Impossible – Ghost ProtocolJack ReacherOblivionEdge of Tomorrow, Rogue NationJack Reacher: Never Go BackThe MummyAmerican Made, and Fallout all in the last 10 years. As an added bonus, he currently has 4 films in the works, Top Gun: MaverickMission: Impossible 7Mission: Impossible 8, and an untitled Space X project. Guess what, he’s probably still not done.

Mission: Impossible is a huge hit for Paramount Pictures and Skydance. Possibly the BIGGEST hit for the entire studio in its 100+ year history. The 6 films, released over a period of 19 years, have grossed nearly $3.6 billion globally, and the most recent picture, Fallout, grossed almost $800M worldwide, a franchise high, it seems. That being said, it’s easy to see why Paramount might think that M:I7 and M:I8 might be billion dollar films. Once you know that, it’s easy to see why they’re being overly cautious with the films.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 AND 8 DELAYED

Paramount and Skydance have released a joint statement explaining the delay for the Mission: Impossible films. The statement from the two studios can be found below:

After thoughtful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic. The new release dates will be July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, respectively. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience.

Paramount and Skydance in a statement explaining the delay

Other Paramount films shifted because of the delay include Blazing Samurai (July 22, 2022), Secret Headquarters (August 5, 2022), A Quiet Place spinoff (September 22, 2023), and Under The Boardwalk (to be announced).

Now that it’s thought about, it’s quite possible that the M:I films were delayed due to production issues, and not just the COVID-19 pandemic. The official statement is that the films were delayed due to the pandemic, but remember, the official statement is not always the full story. Whatever the case, it’ll be exciting to see both Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 swing into theaters in 2023 & 2024. Hopefully, these delays give time to Chris McQuarrie and his team to fix whatever issues there may be in the films.

Mission: Impossible 7 will release on July 14, 2023, and Mission: Impossible 8 will release on June 28, 2024. What did you think of this news? Are you excited to see both new action thriller films when (if) they release?

The Batman’s Gargantuan Runtime Revealed At Just Under 3 Hours

The Batman is looking to be an impeccable movie. Action, emotional depth, suspense, comedy (well, not comedy), it’s all there. On March 4, the world will be reintroduced to the city of Gotham, and we will see the full extent of how powerful the Riddler really is. Bruce Wayne will figure out his family’s history, and will make new allies in the process. Fans could not be more excited.

Matt Reeves directs the solo origin film for the latest adaptation of the character, and Robert Pattinson plays the title character. Zoe Kravitz joins the cast as Catwoman, Andy Serkis is Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright is Commissioner Gordon, and Paul Dano is the Riddler. John Turturro and Colin Farrell join the cast as 2 main mob bosses, Carmine Falcone and the Penguin, respectively. Barry Keoghan plays Stanley Merkel, but he’s actually been rumored to appear as the Joker, instead. Now, we have the runtime for the film.

THE BATMAN RUNTIME REVEALED, NEARLY BREAKS AVENGERS: ENDGAME‘S LENGTH

Per The Hollywood ReporterThe Batman‘s runtime will be 2 hours and 55 minutes long, with about 8 minutes of credits. That’s the second-longest for any superhero film to play in theaters behind Avengers: Endgame at 3 hours and 1 minute, and the third-longest superhero film overall behind Zack Snyder’s Justice League at 4 hours 2 minutes. The film is the longest of any Batman film ever made.

Jeez. That’s a long runtime. With the film nearly capping 3 hours, it needs justification for that runtime. From what insiders have said, the film is flawless throughout Acts 1-2, and the film should end at the close of the second act. Instead, there is a third act, which isn’t needed. It’s unknown if those reports are true, but we’ll know for sure come March 4. Hopefully, the film can satisfy its 3-hour runtime, and deliver a performance that will leave audiences in shock and awe for years to come.

The Batman will release in theaters on March 4, 2022, in IMAX, Dolby, and other premium formats. What did you think of this news? Are you excited to watch a 3-hour long Batman movie?

Batgirl Set Video May Reveal Jacob Scipio’s Mystery Villain

The DCEU has a lot on its plate for 2022. Currently last on the schedule is Batgirl, and that may not be a bad thing.

December 2022 placement is optimal for a film like this, as it might have a more winter-y theme. It also gives plenty of time for 2 things. 1) For filming to complete, and to allow plenty of time for post-production work and VFX to mop up. But more prominently for most fans is 2) There are 11 months for WB to decide to push the film by a few months, and give it an exclusive theatrical release, instead of being an HBO Max exclusive.

Batgirl looks to be an amazing ride. We’ve been waiting for weeks to get our first looks at Leslie Grace in the legendary costume, and we finally have it. Purple with gold lining is the perfect way to go, and it could not have gotten fans more excited for the superhero’s upcoming debut. Bilall Fillah and Adil El Arbi are directing the film, and it’s set to be released on HBO Max in December 2022. Now, we have our first look at another villain from the movie, played by none other than Jacob Scipio.

JACOB SCIPIO’S CHARACTER REVEALED FOR BATGIRL

In a recent post from @BatgirlFilm on Twitter, Jacob Scipio is shown getting out of a black SUV and being surrounded by bodyguards. He speaks with a construction worker, and has a cloak put on him, but not before a suit is shown underneath it. The user on Twitter has speculated that Scipio’s character could be the infamous DC mob boss Tony Bressi. There has been no word from Warner Bros. on who Scipio will be playing, but more information is expected to be revealed soon. The full tweet and video can be found below:

Interesting. Could Batgirl be battling mob bosses in her origin film? Based off the evidence, it seems likely, as the DC extended universe is likely to get reset following the events of The Flash, which will reportedly erase Zack Snyder’s films (Man of SteelBatman v SupermanJustice LeagueZack Snyder’s Justice League) from the DCEU canon going forward. It’s unknown the events that will lead to the erasure of the films, but the film is expected to take heavily from the Flashpoint storyline in the comics. Batgirl would then step in for Batman, and become a member of the new Justice League.

Batgirl will release on HBO Max in December 2022. The Flash releases in theaters on November 4, 2022. What did you think of this news? Are you excited to see Jacob Scipio in Batgirl?

Russian Scene Showcased In New Set Photos From Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion is set to be one hell of a TV show. Possibly the biggest ever created (in scale) for a streaming service.

It’s set to be a HUGE crossover project for Marvel Studios, and will change the outlook of the MCU going forward. It’s described as a suspense action thriller, and will incorporate elements of political thrillers, especially the paranoia aspect. The series is currently set for public release in 2022, but as of now it’s unknown if the show can make that projected release date.

The series stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. Olivia Colman will reportedly play the Skrull Queen, Emilia Clarke is said to be a spy, and Christopher McDonald is thought of as a “Tucker Carlson figure”. Kingsley Ben-Adir and Killian Scott have been cast in yet unknown roles. Kyle Bradstreet is the head writer assigned to the project, and Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim will direct the series. Now, we have new videos from the Secret Invasion set, and they’re quite telling.

RUSSIAN SCENE IN NEW VIDEO FROM SECRET INVASION SET

Recently, user @SInvasionNews on Twitter posted a video of a seemingly Russian setting at Halifax Piece Hall in England. There are Russian banners, and they read “National Unity Day.” They seem to be shooting some kind of huge outdoor scene or celebration. It’s unknown how this scene will play into the greater plot. The full videos and tweets can be located below:

It’s always good news to hear that Secret Invasion is progressing in production at a steady rate and pace. How far along the series is in filming is unknown, but multiple cast members from the series and The Marvels will crossover. The 2 projects are extremely interwoven in their storylines and release schedules, so it makes sense to film close together (both in London as far as we know) so cast members have more ease getting from place to place in order for them to appear on-camera.

Secret Invasion is currently scheduled to be released in 2022 on Disney+. Nick Fury and Talos’ latest adventure can be found in Spider-Man: Far From Home, now available on PVOD. What did you think of this news? Are you excited for Secret Invasion?

Guessing Game: LLC Listing Could Be For Secret Wars

Marvel Studios has recently gone to a LOT of trouble to keep people from guessing their projects via LLCs registered. They’ve made up names as wacko as Grass-Fed Productions LLC (now known to be Secret Invasion), just to keep sleuths off the track. Pandemic Productions LLC was revealed to be The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Echo was Frequent Productions LLC. Now, we MAY know the real project for another LLC.

Murphy’s Multiverse reported in January 2021 that Standoffish Productions LLC was a Marvel Studios company, assigned for a feature film. At Cinema Reviewed, we’ve confirmed this with our own sources. Now, this is pure speculation, but Standoffish could be referring to the upcoming Marvel Studios project Secret Wars.

Could Standoffish Productions LLC Be For Secret Wars?

While the project has not been officially announced, it’s expected to be a feature film, and the Russo Brothers have reportedly even been in talks about directing the film. The name lines up with the project as well. Standoffish would refer to a standoff between 2 or more groups of people. In Secret Wars, that’s exactly what happens. Secret Invasion could also serve as a bounce point to Secret Wars, and bring on the next chapter of MCU storytelling.

Standoffish Productions was registered in 2020, and as such is likely for an MCU film that is set to release soon. How soon? We don’t know. What we do know, is that Secret Wars has been talked about quite a bit at Marvel Studios, and might even take a 2024 date. With the Russo Brothers seemingly in talks, it’s clear that Marvel Studios is ready to enter the next phase of development, and it’ll be interesting to see how fast Marvel wants to develop the film.

Pure theoretical timeline here, but if Marvel Studios has their director, then they’re set in the first phase. Writing can be estimated to 6 months, and that takes us to July 2022. Signing contracts with actors, casting, all that, estimate 6 months. January 2023. Filming start in March 2023, runs for 4-6 months maximum, September 2023. 8-10 months for post-production, and we could see Secret Wars take the July 2024 slot.

Whatever the case, all will be revealed soon. Marvel Studios will make an appearance at the D23 Expo, and hopefully an announcement will come there. Let us know what project you think Standoffish might be for or whether you think Secret Wars will take the July 2024 date by mentioning @ReviewedCinema on Twitter. Doctor Sivana Slated For Return In Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Shazam! was a hit when it released in 2019. The film has been acclaimed by fans and critics alike, both of whom have praised it for its humor, comedic fun and willingness to make fun of villains – and of course, its pure ridiculousness.

The original was amazing, showing both sides of Billy Batson: orphan and superhero. Fans are hoping that the relationships explored can be carried over to the sequel, whether it’s the villains that return, or the Shazam(s). Good news, it looks like we may get just that.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is one of those films that has VERY high expectations. Coming off the blockbuster original, it has extremely high expectations to live up to, and unfortunately, it’s not looking like it can live up to those expectations. However, with a cast consisting of Zachary Levi, Rachel Zegler, Grace Fulton, Asher Angel, and more, that’s not going to stop it from trying. The film is directed by David F. Sandberg, who also directed the original. It releases in June 2023, and we may have just received new info about the sequel.

DOCTOR SIVANA REPORTEDLY SET TO RETURN IN SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS

Per a new report by The Cosmic Circus, Mark Strong has filmed scenes for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, to reprise his role as Doctor Sivana in the sequel to 2019’s Shazam!. It’s unknown to the extent of his role, but The Cosmic Circus founder Lizzie Hill has said that her sources say it’s an end-credits scene appearance, laying the groundwork for another DC appearance in the near future. There was also speculation that Mr. Mind was returning for the sequel, but director David Sandberg shut that rumor down, saying that voice actor Anthony Gabriel has done voice work for the film, but not for Mr. Mind.

Mr. Mind or not, it’s great to know that Dr. Sivana will be returning to the DC universe again soon! He was a fan-favorite villain in Shazam!, and as such, fans are raving about his return. Mark Strong was a fantastic actor in the role, and I’m glad to hear that he’ll be back. Hopefully, he’ll have an expanded role in the DCEU going forward. My only concern about his appearance is how it’ll be executed. Per recent test screening leaks for Shazam 2, the film is said to be “mediocre at the best.” That’s not great news coming off the success of the original, but we have 17 months until release, so hopefully, they can fix those issues.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently set for release on June 2, 2023, exclusively in theaters. Catch the original Shazam! now streaming on HBO Max for no additional cost. What did you think of this news? Are you excited for Dr. Sivana and Mister Mind’s return?
