Gotham Knights is getting closer everyday. The CW has become synonymous with the DC TV brand. They have produced a fully fledged connected universe on their network. First, it started back with Arrow, then quickly expanded with The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. However, in the past few years the CW has winded down its shared DC universe. Many of the shows have ended or are expected to end soon. Still the CW is making DC shows but newer ones are not part of the previous connected universe.

Recently, the CW ordered a full season of Gotham Knights. While there has been plenty of casting news and vague plot details, there has not been much official new for the show. Not even a poster or trailer has been shown.. However, that as all changed today.

First look at Gotham Knights

First Look at Gotham Knights. People Standing in Rain.

As you can see above, the CW has provided the first official look at its Gotham Knights show. They also announced that Gotham Knights will premiere in early 2023. Additionally, the CW has provided an updated synopsis for the show. Check it out:

Batman is dead, and a powder keg has ignited Gotham City without the Dark Knight to protect it. In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan, “De Son Vivant”) is framed for killing the Caped Crusader, along with the children of some of Batman’s enemies: Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan, “Days of Our Lives”), an unpredictable fighter and skilled thief who was born in Arkham Asylum and abandoned by her father, Harper Row (Fallon Smythe, “grown-ish”), a streetwise and acerbic engineer who can fix anything, and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara, “The Virgin of Highland Park”), a clever transgender teen who is tired of being polite and agreeable.

With the charismatic and hard-charging District Attorney Harvey Dent (Misha Collins, “Supernatural”) and the GCPD hot on their trail, Turner will rely on allies including his best friend and formidable coder Stephanie Brown (Anna Lore, “All American”), and unlikely Batman sidekick Carrie Kelley (Navia Robinson, “Raven’s Home”). But our Knights will soon learn there is a larger, more nefarious force at work within Gotham City. This team of mismatched fugitives must band together to become its next generation of saviors known as the GOTHAM KNIGHTS.

The Correct Way To Go?

This doesn’t inspire much confidence. The CW is often better than people give them credit for but, they have their reputation for a reason. Basically, this seems like someone saw the trailer for the Gotham Knights video game and decided it would make a good show. However, they could only get the rights to lesser known Batman characters. Even more confusing is the fact that they made up a new character to be the focus of the show. All in all this sounds a lot like fan fiction; Not something that should be officially approved by DC and WB. With that in mind, it is still best to way until we learn more about the show to judge it completely.
