The CW is expanding with Gotham Knights. The CW and the Arrowverse have been a bit of a mess for a while. Ever since Crisis on Infinite Earths the shows have been a little aimless. And a lot of popular shows like Supergirl and Black Lightning ended. And a lot of potential spin-offs were not picked up. For a while, it looked like the CW and DC were slowly ending their relationship. But it seems to live on for now with a new series.
Gotham Knights (not to be confused with the video game of the same name) is set after Bruce Wayne’s murder. It finds his adopted son teaming up with the kids of Batman’s enemies. They are framed for Batman’s murder. They team up to form the titular Gotham Knights to defend the city. The series stars Misha Collins as Two-Face, Oscar Morgan as Bruce Wayne’s son, Olivia Rose Keega as Duela, and Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown.
Gotham Knights Full Series Heading To The CW
The CW has ordered a full season of Gotham Knights. Earlier this year, the CW ordered the pilot for the series and it seems they were happy enough with it to get it a full season. The news comes after a wave of cancellations on the CW. Canceled shows included: long-running shows like Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman. The freshmen series Naomi was also canceled along with many other shows.
This is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the show has an interesting premise that could lead to some entertaining tv. On the other hand, the CW does not have a great track record with shows. So the show has a lot of potential but it will likely be wasted. Additionally, this show is taking the spot of Legends which ended on a cliffhanger and deserves some closure. Unfortunately, any sort of resolution for Legends is unlikely. But for now, let’s hope for the best and prepare for the worst with Gotham Knights.
