Ghostbusters fans, you won.

Today Sony presented their upcoming slate of films, including the announcement of a sequel to last years hit movies Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The latter was a long awaited direct sequel to Ivan Reitman’s 1984 film and its sequel in 1989. For Afterlife, Reitman’s son Jason took over as director.

The story focused on the family of Egon, played by the late Harold Ramis and starred McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard as his grandchildren taking up the mantle of busting the paranormal as well as the original surviving cast members. Now, Ghostbusters: Afterlife has received a sequel.

It would be hard to imagine that Afterlife wouldn’t get a sequel. After all, the positive reviews it received spread huge word of mouth in a good way. Jason Reitman taking the helm for his father was the perfect choice and his love for the series showed in the movie. Fans have to be tremendously excited about the news and expect the rumors to flow about the direction the next movie could take.
