Madame Web has some good news.

The Spider-Man universe has had some incredible films, and some not-so-great films. Spider-Man, for instance, was a hit when it arrived in 2002. Morbius, on the contrary, was not as much of a hit. The film flopped at the box office, and remains one of the lowest-scored superhero films on Rotten Tomatoes ever. So it’s a mixed bunch. A film that is up in the air, and may potentially be a game changer for the Spider-Verse, Madame Web.

Madame Web has been a big fat question mark for comic book film fans ever since the film was announced. The film has been referred to internally as “Sony’s Doctor Strange”, in that the character will serve as the connector of all these separate universes in the Spider-Verse. It’s not known how, exactly, it’ll be managed, but expect details to start coming out soon, as the film’s release date has just been set.

Madame Web Added To Sony Release Slate

Sony Pictures (through The Hollywood Reporter) has announced that Madame Web has been added to the release schedule, dated for July 7, 2023. The film was not previously dated, but had been widely expected to take an August 2023 date. There was no reason provided for the delays. When reached, Sony was not available for comment.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse was delayed to June 2, 2023. However, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Part II was added to the release slate, set for a March 29, 2024 release. The Equalizer 3 was also set for a September 1, 2023 release.
