Stranger Things 4 is about to arrive.
In 2016, Netflix introduced us to a mysterious new show that was equal parts scary, adventurous, fun and nostalgic. A phenomena was created around the 1980’s set horror drama series Stranger Things. We were completely overtaken by the show and became completely invested into the small rural town of Hawkins, Indiana and its townspeople. They’ve seen everything from a missing child to a government conspiracy. A Russian invasion and an extra dimensional world called the Upside Down are just two more things to add to the pile.
For 6 years and 3 seasons we have followed our main players in the fight to save their town. Made up of a group of kids, a frantic mother, the town sheriff and a strange and powerful young girl named Eleven who is the key to everything. They have battled Demodogs, a Demogorgon, The Mind Flayer and more. But with the premiere of the season 4 trailer, they are about to meet their biggest evil yet.
Stranger Things 4 Trailer Unleashed
Watch the trailer here:
I am going to be reaching into spoiler territory of Season 3 a bit for this next part, so be warned. When we last saw our group of heroes, everything was quiet and somber. The conspiracy was uncovered, the gateway to the Upside Down was closed, our heroic Sheriff Hopper was lost and the group was splitting up. The trailer for the next season offers us glimpses into the return of Hopper. It also alludes to why the group will need to get back together to stop their most evil adversary yet. And Eleven may be our only hope in doing so.
The trailer introduces us to a new being which is being deemed “Vecna” in the credits for the show. All of the monsters we’ve met so far carry names created in the Dungeons and Dragons universe. A game that our core group of kids are very partial to playing. A quick google search shows Vecna in DnD to be “a once-human lich from Oerth who ascended to godhood.” This description is an interesting one because in the trailer, Vecna is the most human-like monster we’ve seen from the Upside Down. His character also narrates most of this trailer.
These attributes help to speculate that perhaps this character was once human. Season 4 is still shrouded in mystery and we still do not have a lot of answers to many questions but the trailer looks to dive even deeper into those answers. Many easter eggs can be found in the trailer, like Robert Englund’s character, a mysterious musician and Hopper’s whereabouts. Also a glimpse at the release dates for the 2 part season coming very soon.
