Stranger Things has become one of the biggest pop culture sensations in the last few years. Since its debut in the summer of 2015, Stranger Things has become a massive hit for Netflix. Fans have followed the adventures of Mike, Joyce, Elven, and more for 3 thrilling seasons. And the show has even expanded into comics and mobile games. Now, Stranger Things 4 is coming soon.

Ever since the shocking end of the last season, Stranger Things 4 has been long anticipated by fans but thanks to delays related to the ongoing pandemic there’s been little information to go on. Earlier this year Netflix revealed that Season 4 would be debuting in two separate parts. With Vol. 1 coming to Netflix on May 25th, and Vol. 2 on July 1st. Netflix also revealed that Season 4 would be longer than any previous season of the show. And thanks to a new interview with the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, we now have a better idea of exactly how long Season 4 might be.

Stranger Things 4‘s Massive Runtime Revealed

In a Q&A with Deadline, the Duffer brothers discussed the massive length of Stranger Things 4, and how long the episodes were in comparison to previous seasons. See the quote below:

I don’t think we have an episode clocking in under an hour – even in Season 1 there were episodes that were like 35 minutes. You kind of forget that. This season, they’re very long, so I think it’s almost double the length of any season. So that’s one reason it’s taken so long. It does have this sort of epic quality to it. It’s a different feel, for sure.

Not only are the episodes longer this season they are also increasing the scope of the show. The Duffer Brothers noted that they referred to it as a “Game of Thrones season” as it’s so broad in scope. Check out the quote below:

We kind of jokingly call it our Game of Thrones season because it’s so spread out, so I think that’s what’s unique or most unique about the season.

Fans are sure to be thrilled by the news. After 3 years, since the last season, fans are going to be eager to spend as much time as possible in the Stranger Things world. Hopefully, the extended length and scope will provide plenty of time to answer the burning questions lingering since the Stranger Things 3 finale while also expanding the show’s world.
